Through its subsidiaries, associates and joint ventures, FGV has 138 estates, 72 palm oil mills, five kernel crushing plants, 10 refineries, nine rubber factories, 10 bulking installations and two oleo-chemical plants in Malaysia and abroad. FGV is also the largest refined sugar producer in Malaysia through its listed subsidiary, MSM Malaysia Holdings Berhad which produces 57 percent of the country’s refined sugar products. Apart fromthis, as a company aspiring to be the leading globally diversified and integrated agri-business, FGV is also committed to all three principles of sustainability: people, profit and planet. It is pursuing aggressive, strategic reform and expansion programme to ensure the vitality of its business. An active member of the Roundtable on Sustainable Palm Oil (RSPO) since 2004, FGV has a time-bound plan to achieve certification for all its mill complexes by 2017. Most notably, it was the first in the world to attain RSPO certification involving small holder estates and the first company outside Europe to achieve International Sustainability and Carbon Certification. In addition, it is at the forefront of renewable energy projects using oil palm biomass. FGV’s ‘green’ power plant in Sabah is the world’s first utilising 100 percent oil palm Empty Fruit Bunches (EFB). Listed on the Main Market of Bursa Malaysia Securities Berhad in June 2012, FGV provides employment to some 19,000 employees, 20 percent of whom are descendants of FELDA settlers-smallholders. Driven by positive commercial considerations to further solidify its position in the palm oil sector, FGV had obtained the remaining 51 percent equity interest in Felda Holdings Bhd (FHB) from Koperasi Permodalan Felda Malaysia Berhad (KPF) in December 2013. With this acquisition, FGV has become a fully integrated oil palm plantation company which enables FGV to attain operational efficiencies as well as synergies within the plantation value chain of the FGV Group. The merging of FGV’s strength in the plantation and downstream businesses coupled with FHB midstream and downstream activities is the strategy for FGV to be one of the top ten agri-business conglomerates in the world by the year 2020.
